Despite having a mere six metres of ‘grotty urban
soil’, novelist Charlotte Mendelson grows more than 100 things to eat,
including eight types of tomato, five varieties of kale, three kinds of
raspberry, various sorrels, ten kinds of lettuce and a few flowers, all edible.
She talks about her book, Rhapsody in Green: A novelist, an obsession, a
laughably small excuse for a vegetable garden with Mark
Diacono, former head gardener at River Cottage, and an award winning food and
gardening writer who now runs a cooking and gardening school at Otter Farm
in Devon.
